Crispy Cauliflower Wings
This wings are everything you've been looking for! Deliciously crispy outside but soft and buttery inside. I love the slight cheesy flavour yeast flakes bring out, and gorgeously tasting smoked paprika butter, that adds character. My wings are perfect finger food for whole family. This dish is just a must have in every kitchen! I promise, once you've tried them you will love them and won't look back!
I never realised you could create vegan chicken wings and it was hard to find perfect butter for cauliflower wings, which would serve our house well. After trying many recipes, I finally found a perfect combination. I must say I was very nervous before I served them to my little one. At first she wasn't too keen on even trying them. Thankfully we have a golden rule at the dining table for all new dishes "a must have a bite before judging", and it worked! She loved it and I loved that she was so keen on the wings after all. I served the wings with dips that are aimed at children and everyone who isn't a fan of spicy sauces. My favourite are homemade guacamole, humus and tomato ketchup.
So here is my recipe.
Ingredients:
Half of a small cauliflower head
Two tablespoon of corn flour ( I use Maseca),
One teaspoon of onion granules
One teaspoon of garlic granules
One teaspoon of smoked paprika
Four teaspoons of soya sauce (GF Kikkoman)
Pinch of pepper
Pinch of pink salt
Water, about 100ml
Here is what to do:
Mix all butter ingredients in a mixing bowl until it'll become a pancake consistency
Wash and pull apart cauliflower heads into small pieces
Mix cauliflower in the butter until well covered
Bake in the oven for 15 min, then turn them to the other side and bake for another 10 min or until golden brown and crispy
Serve with favourite sauce, dip and selection of veg
Tips for the dish:
If you want to use regular flour, or gluten free flour, remember to add at least one teaspoon of corn flour, which will give your wings crispiness,
We bake our wings as its healthier for us, but if you prefer you can lightly fry them too ;)
